Spring 2025 – Higher-level English courses
This semester we are offering three general English courses for upper-intermediate and advanced speakers:
· VYA010 (Upper Intermediate / B1-B2 level)
· VYA011 (Upper Intermediate / B1-B2 level)
· VYA005 (Lower Advanced / B2-C1 level)
The courses are for:
· students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering,
· self-financing students from other faculties, and
· visiting Erasmus+ international students from any faculty.
More information here. Payment details for self-funded students from other faculties*
(*Do not pay until you have attended the first lesson and decided if the classes suit you)
Registration
Students at the Faculty of Civil Engineering can register as usual via the student intranet, while Erasmus students and students from other faculties should write to the teacher (Mr Turland) at Roger.Turland@vut.cz to enrol.
Course times
If you can’t attend at one of these times, you can request a different one (see below). Often it’s possible to place a course at a different time if enough people request it.
VYA010: Wednesdays 8:00
VYA011: Thursdays 10:00
VYA005: Mondays 16:00 and 18:00, Tuesdays 16:00, Thursdays 14:00
Requesting alternative course times
If you want to request an alternative course time, please email the teacher at Roger.Turland@vut.cz, saying if you would like:
1. VYA010,
2. VYA011
3. VYA005, or
4. you don’t mind which you do,
and the times when you are free (e.g. Mondays 10-14, Wednesdays after 12) + if you are an Erasmus student, and at what faculty. Mr Turland can create a course at a new time if there are enough requests for that time.
We normally need at least 10 people in total for a course to run. Perhaps you have some colleagues who want to attend with you? If so, submit a group request.
Group requests
If you can put together a group of people who can attend at the same times as you, write to Mr Turland with their names + the course code + the times when you are all free to take the course. The more people you have in your group, the more likely it is that a course can be created at a time that suits you.
